Pasta Bolognese Sauce

This is a recipe for pasta with traditional beef sauce. This sauce goes well with Pappardelle pasta or as a sauce for lasagna.

Ingredients

  1. Plain tomatoe sauce - 425 gm
  2. Tomato Paste (x2) - 340 gm
  3. Yellow Onions Large - 2
  4. Garlic - 6 Cloves
  5. Berbere - 1.5 Tsp
  6. Olive Oil - 1/3 Cup
  7. Soffrito seasoning (dried onions, tomato flakes, seasalt, dried garlic, chili pepper, parsley, red pepper, rosemary, sage)
  8. Onion Powder
  9. Garlic Powder
  10. Black pepper
  11. Salt
  12. Ground Beef - 1 pound

Directions

  1. Put cast iron pot on low-med heat
  2. Add olive oil when it gets hot
  3. Add the onions and saute till they are soft and golden
  4. Add garlic cloves and sautee for a bit
  5. Add berbere and saute for a bit
  6. Start oven at 450
  7. Add soffrito seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, salt and saute for a bit
  8. Add tomato paste and saute till its loose and creamy
  9. Add beef and mix it well so there are no clumps
  10. Add tomato sauce and sautee until it starts sputtering
  11. Cover and put in oven
  12. Let cook in oven for another 30 minutes. Stir every 15 minutes.
